I grew up as a Migrant Farm laborer in the Yakima valley of Washington State. We worked on fruit ranches and packing warehouses during the harvest season.
We lived in a migrant housing ( single-room cabins) with a community bathroom and showers in a small and windowless building (very cold in the winter).
I attended Washington State University and earned my undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Arts: Foreign Language and Literature with a Minor in Communications: Television & Radio Broadcasting Editing and Production.
I remember how the elders and family members would gather around after a hard day's work and light a fire in the early evening and tell Cuentos - stories that had been handed from down from one generation to the next.
There was always a spooky tale of: La Llorona, La bruja del Monte, and el Cucuy.
Helping the family pick apples to earn money!
